Rural post offices and shops

We are now located in East Kent, having recently moved from South Oxfordshire, and we know that it's important to help and support rural communities in some way – otherwise they will continue to disappear from our countryside.

The village shop is often the hub of a local community, and it’s important to create visiblity and recognition for the services it can offer to local residents. If there is a shop in a village it can be a godsend and a lifeline to the community - it's very important for us all to support these shops wherever possible, and buy from them frequently. The people that run them need to eat and drink like the rest of us!

My grandmother (Lillian Cooper) used to run the village shop in Sandon, Staffordshire, so I have a strong affinity with the challenges and rewards of owning and running a business like this.

The Littlebourne Store & Post Office is a good example of a village shop that serves the local comunity

Artistic talent seems to flow through our family! This is a small business started from scratch by my sister Kate. One day she decided that a shady corner of her garden needed brightening up, and came up with the idea of creating a mosaic mirror with the design of a poppy in it - and she hasn't looked back since!

If you are looking for a special product as a gift, or a set piece in a shop display - call

Kate on 01522 720 947 – or email her at enquiries@gardenreflections.co.uk

She works to commissions; so if you have a particular flower - or want her to copy one of Katherine's designs, just call Kate.
